Something noticeable about Maxtor Drives

Are Maxtor any relation to the dreadful Excelstor?

They die quite fast, too.

I'm pretty sure it's that drive in my machine that goes ker..clonk every half an hour

Had 2 maxtor 40gb's in raid 0 with sata dongles working flawlessly for 3 and a half years. Infact I only took them out last week as I bought a 250gb Spinpoint. Yes, they do run hot but not if they are fan cooled as they were in my chieftec case.

I used to use Maxtors all the time but I got a few failures and random drive related issues so I use WD drives now.
