New build - XP and SATA

Probably a daft question, but here goes..

I'm gradually buying all the necessary parts for my new-build gaming rig. I've just got round to thinking about DVD drives and, when doing some research, found various articles flagging issues with a first install from a SATA DVD-drive.

The new pc will be based on either a P965 or N680i - will I be able to boot and install from a SATA DVD drive, rather than an EIDE?

Any suggestions for a good (i.e. quiet and fast) DVD writer (SATA or EIDE - depending on the answer to the above)?

    Thanks!

Yes, you'll need xp sp1 or 2 installation disc as well.

edit: have a look at the samsung sata drives.
