    Nvidia GO

As some o you may know i now have a xps gen 2 laptop, it has a 6800 ultra card inside, which is fnie but isnt cut out for the stupid res that dell ship the units with, so i have seen on ebay that you can buy the 7800 gtx go and it will fit.
Now the question is, how much real time performance extra will i get from this? and is it worth it? i see alot of the gen 2 on ebay that have had the upgrade so do you think its worth it?

    many thanks

at the end of the day laptop cards are scaled down versions of the real PC cards you would normally buy, reduced clock speeds, reduced functionality, less pipe lines etc. this knocks there performance for 6 in gaming terms., going from the go6800u to the go7800GTX will give you a bucket load more performance and the old card will sell well on ebay.
its worth it as i know how bad those 6800's are on the high res laptops, the 7800 will make it totally usable and let you play some decent games on there.

just make sure you lap the heatsink a little, and use arctic silver paste on it to help keep the heat down. the coolers aint the best in the world and your going to bump your temps a lot with a 7800.

why not wait around for asus little box that you can fit a PCI-e card into. I mean you have decent enough performance for when your mobile, if you wanna get better performance on a laptop id definately say thats a way forward.

Does that not require the use of an external monitor though?
