Hi all,
Long time Hexus user / PC enthusiast, but I'm a little out of the loop on the latest hardware, mainly graphics cards and motherboards... Maybe I should read the news/reviews sites more
Anyway, here's my plan:
Can anyone spot any glaring omissions?
I don't want a super overclocking-1337-500 fans-liquid-cooled beast, or any silly over the top cases (it'll be sitting on the floor under my desk) just something powerful and enough to play modern games and store all my clobber (hence the seperate os/system HDD).
So is the above config decent?
I have a decent 480W Thermaltake PSU that I will use, I'll use the 400w one from the above new case to power my current PC while I keep it running for a short while. I presume the 20 pin-ness of the Thermaltake won't be a problem? I think it has one SATA power connector so I'll buy a couple of adaptors.
I'm also right in thinking that new motherboards don't have the Soundstorm-esque Dolby Digital realtime encoding, and I'll have to buy a seperate card for this? That's ok.
Now then, the graphics card... Is this going to be a sufficient leap ahead of my 9800pro to cope with new games? I don't want a bloody great 768MB 8800GT, but do tell me if the 7900GS won't cope
Cheers for any advice.
