WD's raptor ;)
Western Digital. Period.
Got no love for Seagate anymore, they've refused at the fence once too often, but they used to be my first choice.
All of my drives are WD atm apart from a single 300Gb Maxtor which will be replaced by a 500gb WD when I get time.
On experience WD ftw!
Samsung all the way
Samsung
western digital then seagate
WD from habit.....probably take after my father he always bought Ford cars.
Samsung :)
Samsung, Hitachi, Seagate then WD
I won't touch anything other than a Western Digital at the moment.
WD & Hitachi
Western Digital or Samsung Both brilliant Samsung slightly quieter though!!
Western Digital for me. Second choice would be Seagate/Maxtor. I will never, ever buy a Hitachi. I've had 4 fail on me back when they were using the IBM name. One was a replacement and started clicking within a couple of months. It died a couple of years later after very little use.
Purely bang for buck, although I did go brand specific on the 7200.10, and currently operating a swerve on maxtors
Hard question mate :)
I always used to buy Maxtor - everytime. I had one fail on me, but that was my fault, so I cant knock them.
Currently I have:
2 * 200gig Maxtors
2 * 80gig Samsung on RAID0
And a Fishgate .10 320giger
Too hard to pick one, they are all running fine.
The Samsungs are quiet, but the Seagate feels so fast for a non RAIDed drive.
If I HAD to pick one....Id probably go with the Samsungs at the moment. They are fairly nippy on RAID0 (ive seen faster though), but the noise is a winner, plus, they are cooler than the Fishgate (which matters when watercooling - less airflow in the case usualy)
