    Please recommend a P4 mobo...

    Ok guys and gals, I'm thinking of upgrading my gaming rig, which is currently built around:

    - P4 2.4GHz (533MHz bus speed) running at 2.9GHz (161MHz FSB)
    - 512MB Cosair XMS2700 DDR SDRAM CAS2.5
    - MSI 845PE Max2-FIR (MS6704) Intel i845PE

    I'm thinking of replacing them with the following:

    * P4 2.4GHz (800MHz buss speed), or other 800MHz models with a view to get as much out of the CPU by overclocking...
    * Corsair TwinX512-4000 DDR-DIMM 512MB (that's DDR500)
    * show me a motherboard!!

    Any suggestion will be welcomed...

    What are the differences between the i875P and the i848P chipsets?

    spikegifted: The difference is the i875 & i865 support dual channel DDR for best memory transfer speeds
    The i848 on the other hand has single channel memory only so its slower

    got one of these, seems to do its job, havent resorted to much uber overclocking, but its keeping my 1.6a at 2.4gig without any trouble (only 150mhz fsb (well 600 quadified)) and is stable

    Thanks folks!

    Firelord-OCHW: That's a heck of an overclock you've gotten there. How does the CPU overclock like with normal conventional cooling?

    On Air with SLK-947U and TT Smart Case fan II at full whack I could do that OC BUT it was really hot and noisy so swapped to Maze 4 and OMG silence is amazing

    That OC is at Default volts on CPU as well can't get it very stable above that at all.

    EDIT : Temps are here

    CPU and System temps are wrong way round btw

    Thats with two sessions of F@H console running for a complete 100% CPU load (1 per logical CPU!)

    Color of the board is not something I worry about... My Lian Li PC-6083A doesn't have a window.
