    Question TFT/LCD:Probability Of Dead/Lazy Pixels?

    Hey,

:: First off, I hope this is in the correct forum, if not feel free to move this and apologies!! .

I know no-one can really answer this with a yes or no answer but here goes! .

TFT/LCD's have been out for quite a few years now, right? Basically does anyone know what the rough/approximate probability of receiving dead/lazy pixels on a tft/lcd panel is?

Reason being is im looking for a new screen, but i just cant help but think....
"Am i going to pay £250 of my hard earned money, for a monitor in which im going to hate because of annoying dead/lazy pixels?"

Thank you for reading my post, I would appriciate it if you could give me some advice.

    Regards,
    randomJ.
    Thanks,
    randomJ.

If you get one that has dead pixels and it annoys you, just send it back.

I couldnt give exact odds, but out of about 10 or so lcds (inc 2 laptops, Ive only had 2 with 1 dead pixel each on.

Dead pixels were on a Sony 17" and the current Dell inspiron 6400, which ironically, I paid extra for the screen

Am in the same boat mate, look for a retailer that will do a dead pixel check, it will cost you more but you will get a screen with none. I know aria do it, but don't really want to order from there, not sure whether scan will or not. Ironically, don't buy a non checked screen from a site that offers the check as the chances of dead pixels is going to be a lot more!

Dont pay for a dead pixel check, if you arent happy with it, send it back, use the distance selling regs. Youll be out of pocket for the postage, but thats it.

Places that offer dead pixel checks, must have a pile of monitors that have dead pixels, so if you dont pay for the check, you get one off that pile.

Or, they dont really check any of them, you probably wont get one with dead pixels anyway, and if you did get one with dead pixels, they would refund you the dead pixel charge.

    Just speculation

I have had 2 laptops 4 LCD screens, an LCD TV and a PDA and only on my 19" Sony did I get a dead pixel.

in work we have 30 or so laptops and a large number of TFTs and we have no dead pixels.
