Price check on a system please.....

    Hi guys,

You lot know what you're talking about on hardware and I'm out of the loop at the moment. My sister has been quoted £360 for the base unit below. Is it a decent deal or not?

    Core 2 Duo E4300
    1GB PC4200 DDR-2
    256MB Palit GeForce 7600GT
    160GB SATA II Hard Drive
    16x DVD-RW
    8 Channel on board audio
Case has 400watt PSU and 8 USB ports

    Thanks for your help.

Edit: Sorry forgot to add that it doesn't include an OS but does include 1 Years Return To Base warranty.

Whilst I think its a good price, the first thing I would do is check the PSU, and if its a noname or QTec one, replace it straight away

There's bad, and then there's Q-Tec. Considering how little decent PSUs cost these days, its a surprise so few people use them...

definately avoid qtec and no name PSU's. You won't be saving much, you'd gain from spending a few more £'s for a better PSU. Q-Tec redefine's 'bad'..

Is it me or is there no mainboard in that spec? Also, are you planning on overclocking the PC or not?

Go with a Corsair, Seasonic or Tagan PSU, alot of users on the forum say good things about them. Using a seasonic myself and I have no complaints

Sorry missed that out! Mainboard is an MSI P4M890M-L

    Socket 775 / Core 2 Duo Support / HD 8 Channel Audio / DDR2 533 / 1066MHz FSB / SATA / PCI-E

Let me guess, that's why it's a decent price?

MSI boards are fine for a desktop machine, very stable, usualy have plenty of features - its hard to go wrong with one.
You could do a lot worse

My biggest concern would be, how long do they take to deliver?

One thing I've recently been burnt on is going for the cut price people who are advertising decent components, only to find 2 months later, still no PC

They have said delivery will be in 7 working days for this system because all components are in stock.
She had him recommended to her by a friend who got her system fast and had had no problems, so they seem to be okay.
