Overclocking the fsb to 333 does make it run at that speed, but you can add extra voltage when doing it like that. IF the cpu is modded to 333fsb and its not happy with running that fast at stock voltage, it might not even let you get to the bios to adjust the voltage, and then thats the end of your modded cpu :D

hah, i see.. well im not gonna try any modding..
but do you think i would have a bigger chance to get a higher clock with a mobo that is rated for 1333mhz?
-
The current P35 boards have certainly been clocking slightly better than the 965 boards, but you overclock will depend on lots of things, and not just the board.

I have a P5B-Deluxe and OCZ Platinum PC2-8500 RAM, what do you guys believe is a good overclocking goal? I have the Artic Silver 64 cooler as my HSF.
What 1:1 ratio should I be aiming for?
Update: Forgot to mention I have a C2D E4300!

Have a read of the guide, get a feel of how it works and go from there.

Clunk-
I have a P5B Deluxe WiFi with an e6600, and I just purchased a Swiftech H20-220 Apex Ultra water cooling kit. Can you recommend a chipset waterblock to cool the P5B Deluxe Northbridge? Also, how did you remove the factory-installed heat sink from the Northbridge? I don't want to break anything!

I used a DangerDen Chipset block on mine, just the standard version fits fine.
You just need to gently lever it off with something that isnt sharp.

Thanks. A quick question with regard to watercooling (sorry if it's off-topic): I'm using an internal radiator on the front of my chassis. Is it better to have the radiator pulling in cool air to cool the liquid but exhausting warm air into the case (i.e. cooler liquid but warmer case). Or, is it better to have the radiator pulling warm air from the case and exhausting out (i.e. cooler case but warmer liquid)?
-
Cool air from outside the case across the rad. As long as you have decent airflow through the case and an exhaust fan of some sort, youll be fine.
Best way is to experiment :)
-
mate this is one of the best OC'ing articles i've seen.
well done
keep it up

Very nice of you to say so, and welcome to Hexus :D

Would anyone be interested in a P5K add-on to the guide?
-
Yeah man definitely looking forward to the P5K Bios discussion here. Can you post up some bios screens?
I also want to pick your brain about the stock cooling. I've just added a fan to the area that dropped temps to 29c at Orthos load. I have the sinks to replace the stock setup but I want to hold off until nesc..
PS - Thanks for the great threads. Yout P5K-DLX thread gave me the insight I needed to get this awesome board.
As soon as I'm past the 5 post initiation I'll post some links to my setup and temps at different settings etc..
-
Glad it was useful :)
Yes, I should have it finished by tonight hopefully. There will be plenty of bios shots.

Top guide this one Clunk, found it on T'interweb while waiting for my upgrade to turn up, which it now has. Plugged in my new cooler today and so let the OC'ing commence!
You may notice below I have a P5K so am interested in what you come up with! I also have a copy of the PC Format "How to overclock your PC" guide from March 2007 which I stole off my mate.
I'll be using my computer for my sound engineering work (hence the crappy gfx card). This is my first attempt at overclocking, I've read through the first 20 pages. Will let you know how I get on, but wont start until i read your P5K stuff. ( I also need to cut a hole in the side of my case to install my other 12 cm fan.)
Cheers
