Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Memory Remap feature and Configure DRAM Timing by SPD are both disabled. Speedstep is disabled (one of Clunks Troubleshooter points).
I've done my homework regarding the guide but something is fishy here. It might just be a "Doo'h"-moment here but I can't see whats the problem.
I have BIOS v.0614, which I've read countless places is the best BIOS for OC with P5B.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Ok, well, looking at the pic in that URL, you havent followed the guide. It stresses over and over to manually set the RAM voltage, and timings, and you have the RAM voltage at AUTO, which is 1.8v and most likely the cause of your problems :)
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Huh? Which part og the guide did I miss?! Ok. So, I've checked out my memory and it has an sticker saying v2.1.
Should I set RAM voltage to v.2.1? Thats it?

Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Ok, done that. No changes whatsoever to the CPU..
Settings and CPU-Z
This isn't right..
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
What exactly happens when you overclock?
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Well...nothing really. Should you see an instant effect (of the OC) in first part of this screen (your example):
http://img.hexus.net/v2/mattd/ocguide/cpusettings-2.jpg
..if so; nothing appears to be changed when I OC.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Nope.
Have you actually tried booting to windows after you changed the settings?
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
of course
I really can't see whats the issue here. Maybe I should update my BIOS to the newest version and try again.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
Post screenshots of your bios settings please.

Here
I hope we'll solve this agonizing problem :|
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
The settings look fine to me.
Which BIOS are you on at the moment?
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
v.0614
I'll update my BIOS and try again. Maybe that would do the trick..

Huh? So you havent ever updated the bios? You need to read the guide, its all in there.
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
I've updated the BIOS now and it seems that the OC is working. I actually updated the BIOS but downgraded it to 0614 as I read at www.xtremesystems.org that it was the best OC BIOS version. ..Shame on me!!
So, ok. Its working now but why now? Why did't it work with v.0614?
Re: C2D Overclocking Guide for Beginners
It may have been the best version for whatever they were doing, but, trust me, I tested them all when I was writing this, and on the P5B, it was always best to have the later BIOSes.
It could also be to do with some of the other hardware that you have, that doesnt play nice with that particular BIOS.
Swings and roundabouts, glad you sorted it :)
