Yes, you are using PC2-5400 RAM, which isnt meant to do 800Mhz.

Either buy some RAM that is suitable for overclocking, or go for a modest overclock that your RAM will allow

If you have tried everything in the troubleshooting part, and it still isnt working, then it sounds like you have possibly killed your RAM.

Its unlikely that you have killed both sticks, but as you have followed all of the troubleshooting tips, you must have already tried both sticks individually in all of the slots, so it could be time for RMA.

errr Clunk,my 1st ORTHOS and TAT analysis was a disaster.
    at 2.42 GHZ,temperature was shown 95 C within half an hour at 100%load.ambient temp.=38 C.
i think i need a good AC first and then fancy overclocking.
gpu temperature also went high, about 75 C n from there on,i m having small artifacts(also big ones but rare) while playing games at high graphics.i think i hv screwed my PC .

Orthos doesnt do anything to the GPU.

If you had 95c CPU temps, you should have stopped it. Your cooling clearly isnt fitted properly.

Did you get a new cooler and RAM?

Howdee all! New job has been taking up alot of my time. from the business's point of view I walked into a total disaster... network has been hacked, everything is setup badly from disk partitioning to firewall setup... but from my point of view, I'm a proverbial "Pig in ----"... w00t... having great fun.

Just popped onto the forum as it's my 33rd Birthday today and noticed this thread is longer than ever... LOL!

And just wanted to say to BULLZI that Clunk is "the man" when it comes to overclocking... the patience of a saint and well... if he doesn't know the answer to your questions... they are probably not worth knowing... (But also, be very careful when OC'ing... temps rise fast and if things don't seem great early on, stop before you cook something. Just common sense).

But on a more 'technical' basis...

"If you'd spend as much time working on your overclocking skills as you do on your reading, young Padawan, you would rival Master Clunk as an Overclocker."

OK... ok... i've had a couple of beers... it's my birthday after all... Starwars quotes always creep into conversation...

Anyway, as soon as work calms down and I get a chance to send my mobo of for replacement (my mate is back from hols and there is no problem getting it swapped over but work is too busy for me right now) I'll be back for some more OC'ing adventures...

Take care all! and cya soon!

IF you are planning a move to quad core, it makes sense to buy the best current air cooler. Although saying that, in 3-4 months, there will probably be something better.

Seriously though, if things are getting to 95c, you have done something seriously wrong in the fitting of the cooler.

Ambient temp of 38 C.... where on Earth do you live? As Clunk says with Temps of 95 you would heve been better to have stopped it and toned things down until you fitted a decent HSF.
Try to make each and every day the best it can be.

Well finally plucked up the nerve to overclock my 6320, admittedly just a little bit, but 2100 is better than 1.86.
Although on the CPU-Z it shows the chip as 1860 but on the TAT it shows it as 2100. Temps are pretty good, i've got an artic cooler and heatsinks on my ram plus the 3 tri-cool fans in the P182.

Well oc'd my 6320 to 2800 and orthos had a fit, so back down to 2100 it went. which is comfortable.
Maybe i'm doing something wrong or my memory settings are out, but followed the guide.

Still it's stable at 2100 which is good enough for me as it's my first ever attempt at overclocking.

Anyway, this is what it's looking like now.

    Shot at 2007-07-21

At least CPU-Z is showing my chip at it's overclocked setting unlike yesterday

    Any tips well recieved

And a big thanks to Clunk for showing it's easy to overclock - and easy to bugger your pc if you do it wrong
