Choose some RAM for me please

Am thinking of getting some RAM but it has to be from Dabs (don't ask) to go with my DS3P, am after 2 x 1GB 6400 sticks, max price being 200 notes.

Which of these would you fine guys recommend?

The crucial seems to be a no-brainer to me, the rest are all overpriced IMO. There is no way the other options are worth 75%+ more money, especially when you can buy 2GB OCZ PC6400 for £115 from some places now.

Crucial has a lifetime warranty as well and have some of the (if not, THE) best customer support I've ever dealt with.

What about the crucial PC2-8000 sticks, costs a bit more and are CL5 though or should I stick with the cheaper PC2-6400 CL4 sticks?

Is the Crucial Ballistix worth the extra £15 over the standard Crucial stuff, they both seem to be the same speed RAM with the exception of one is CL4 and the other CL5 (what does this even mean)?

    Thanks.

The CL is the latency, AFAIK it's the number of clock cycles that pass between each a request to read/write before the memory offers the data.

What I'm wondering is if the CL4 6400 stuff is nearly the same as the CL 8000 RAM if it were run at CL5.

One last question, I see that all the top brand RAM runs at 2.2v, is this likely to cause problems especially when the default BIOS option is to run the RAM at 1.8v?

Most top brand RAM has a limit between 1.8 and 2.2v
AFAIK there isnt any RAM that must be at one voltage only.

No, it'll boot at 1.8, it'll just need 2.2 to reach the advertised speed and timings

Think I'm going to go for the 6400 crucial sticks, read a few reviews and they seem to overclock quite well though am tempted to get the more expensive modules as my works paying for them.

Some decent RAM that was recommended to me on another thread:

    MicroDirect are doing Geil® Ultra DDR2 2.0GB PC6400 Dual Channel memory kit (2 x 1GB) 800MHz (4-4-4-12) +Aluminium heat spreader

    Seems very reasonable at £117.49

another vote for the Ballistix 5300/6400/8000.
Afaik they are all the same modules just with different SPD & possibly better binning for the 8000.

Fairly nice RAM, damn good price but unless Geil have a great RMA service, I would stay clear.

MicroDirects policy of "if you have had the item more then 30 days, we will take 30 WORKING days from when we confirm the goods faulty before you will get a replacement" sucks.
