Yes, I've got 1 (P120 250Gb) at the moment that I must get around to RMAing.
Detects fine in BIOS, can see it in Device Manager etc. but it just won't format - gets to ~90% & quits with an error message :(
ive had two, one IDE and one sata.
the sata one was due to my old motherboard overvolting sata ports but the ide one just went cold, not sure what happened
So.. least they\'re not totally infallable?
mine wouldnt format the other day so i used a programme called kill disc you put it on a floppy disc and boot from it.it takes a while to complete but it sorted my problems out
just goggle kill disc

Zak- have you asked the question because of the low response to your poll or have you had a Samsung drive fail?
i had a DOA drive once - might\'ve been a mobo issue though
I think Seagate would require a new Forum :D
the only drive I've had die on me really fast completely for no reason was a Samsung spinpoint
180gb or something like that
I had the exact same problem buff has with my first sammy hd. Next 2 were rock solid though.
I've had Samsung, Seagate, Maxtor, Quantum, Fujitsu to name a few fail on me. As mentioned above no item is infallible, you just need to go with your best hunch. I've had problems with Seagate drives recently but guess what 500gb drive I recently brought?
Samsung?
another Seagate?
