Bit of an odd one, Everest reads my CPU at 69ºC under full load (Orthos), but then at the exact same time Core Temp shows this:

I always went off Everest which is why I've not overclocked any further... but if Core Temp is correct I'd like to aim for 2.8GHz.
Which do I believe?
I would say coretemp is more likely to be correct, it seems to be the most accurate program atm.
Coretemp is a mile off on my E4300/P5B.
Something like Coretemp 16/17 - TAT 30/32 - probe 33/33.
Everest seems to read almost the same as asus probe. i like to use coretemp and at least one other and take a rough average.
i use coretemp and everest and speedfan. everest is always correct on mine, everyone likes coretemp because its name and its purpose is just for temperatures. most of the time the different temperatures are due to the update frequency but that shouldnt count for alot. also everest provides cpu temperature and core cpu temperatures.
Not in this case, the temps are too wildly different for it to be that. In the same PC, but with an E6400, all the programs read almost the same, within about 3c of eachother. With an E6600, the temps were all over the place, only much higher that the E4300, or the E6400. I a lot of it is down the the individual sensor on the CPU, some work properly and some dont :)
Software programs are always yards out of the truth.
Whether its voltages or temps....they never read correctly.

I'm still a bit confused over why there's such a big difference between the overall CPU and core temps... I know I should really keep it under 60ºC but which reading do I go off?
probably because you got dual core now? it still gives cpu temp anyway.
How do you get Speedfan and Everest to report your CPU temps? Both only show the temps for my hard drives!?!
I know what each temp is (the core temps come from the probes in the actual CPU while the overall temp comes off the motherboard probe) but I just wanna know which I should consider more. 70ºC isn't ideal but then the core temps seem fine so should I be worried?
