First forray into onboard RAID here, really nothing like the big clever and expensive stuff i've used at work in the past. Just a quick one hopefully: If I have a non-bootable RAID 1 array set up in mediashield, if I lose my system hard disk with mediashield drivers installed, will it pick up/rebuild the raided drives once i reinstall the OS/mediashield drivers again?

yes, formatted plenty of times when i had a raid array, it will rebuild it but it may not show until you go into drive managment and reactivate the array, but that was with the older software, havnt tried it since so i expect it will pick up and detect it straight away :)
either way you wont lose the info m8.
i ran for years like that as my raid card wasnt bootable.

Does anyone have any idea how happy I will be when I want to migrate my drives to a different motherboard/different RAID hardware? Are forceware drivers a prerequisite of reading a mediashield array? If so what about taking one drive from a mirrored array and rebuilding it in the new environment, would that work?
Bump. I'd really like to know, is there any proprietory data written to the drive that would prevent me from reading the drive if it's not connected and set up as a mediashield device?Quote:
