    Digital Cameras :)

Looking to buy a Digital camera (a very belated 18th BDay present, i'm 20 next feb ) and as the sales on you know thought now might be a good idea

I have two in mind at the moment for ~£200

One is the FujiFilm M603 sans MicroDrive

    Other is Sony CyberShot P-72

Both are 3MP cameras, zoom capable and recharagable batteries. Fuji takes xD cards and Sony takes Memory Stick...

Both are £199.90 from Jessops and I can get 64MB Lexar MS and xD cards for £17.99 each from here

Which do you reckon I should get??

I've read reviews of the Sony and it gets rave reviews but love the look of the fuji with that cradle

    Definately the Fuji.

First off, you won't be ripped off when it comes to memory. Secondly, it will, from experience with other Fuji cameras, have a decent lens in it (how many megapixels it does isn't everything when it comes to image quality). Thirdly, it's got bloo LEDs.

Working in the industry, I gotta say that one of the best bangs for your buck is the Nikon 3100, which it looks like Jessop's sells for 229. It also comes with batteries and a charger, 3x optical zoom, scene modes, etc. Plus it uses compact flash which are generally cheaper than MS and XD. Finally, I would take any nikon camera over Fuji or Sony anyday. Much more reliable. Just my 2 cents. DO IT!!

No, it's not but it's very, very solid and doesn't look at all tacky. The fact it isn't made of metal also makes it a lot lighter.

a70 is over-rated, unless you have a need for the manual features on it. It's quite the battery hog.

I wouldn't consider a camera without rechargable batteries. Do any of the Fujis?

Just really want Point and shoot with good closeups for some reviews I do for my website

Rechargables are a must! Both cameras I have listed take rechargables in the form of NiMH AA's

Virtually any camera will take rechargeable, but the Nikon comes with rechargeables' and a charger. Also it's super easy to use

Another vote against Sony I'm afraid. Their image quality (esp. colour reproduction) is well behind the competion.

Highly recommend the Minolta 304, or DiMage XT, which are both about 200 quid. The XT is absolutely tiny, but still fits in a 3x optical zoom, and comes with a free second battery atm. The 304 has a lot more control, but is bigger - I bought it for 350 quid about a year ago.

Both produce fantastic pictures (304 is slightly better), and have magnesium alloy bodys.
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.
