    Question Slow SATA boot

I replaced an IDE drive (Maxtor I think) with an 80Gb SATA Samsung SpinPoint (plugged into an Asus P4P800) and it's now really slow to boot into XP, like 3 or 4 times slower.

Any ideas what might be going on here?! I think I've set the BIOS options OK...

you tried defragging the drive, and also there is that BootVIS thing for windowsXP, tho i dont have any experience with it cos i'm running win2k, but supposedly you can use it to help reduce boot times..

Cheers, have found BootVis and will give it a go! Sounds like a pretty useful thing to have regardless...
