Asus P5W DH Deluxe USB problems :(

If anyone here has an Asus P5W Dh Deluxe or similar board (eg: Asus P5B DH Deluxe) could you please tell me where you have your front panel USB installed on the board.

I built this about 2 months ago since i followed the Manual for installing the front usb onto the board exactly as said but in windows it says "Voltage Error, and the USB wont work"

The front panel USB worked on an Abit AB9. On this P5W there are many other pins of which none are documented in the huge manual... i have a feeling it could be some of these or im doing something wrong..

my case is an Thermaltake Armour JR.

There is an audio header and a USB header - they are not the same, nor inter-changeable.

Make sure you have the correct cable going to the correct header as you can damage the motherboard.

Yeh im very tired i know the difference and as said its worked 100% fine on a different board where the manuals instructions actually worked.

I put it in exactly as said in the manual on the correct header but no :/

I've had a look at your manual, and there standard fittings.
Vbus
D-
D+
GND
So long as you never connected to the firewire, that's just up a bit.

try and check the voltage straight on the motherboard when it is running, see how many ampers it is, perhaps if you are sly you can see if the voltage stays level when you plug something into it.

then get the 5 V rail from your power supply and solder a line on your main board fffffffun

Ok, well on closer inspection of one of the wires just at the top where it connects to the USB ports on the case, i saw it had slightly come loose and was only brushing the other bit.

I did have it correctly installed on the right pins but this loose wire started sparking slightly, to fix this i wripped out the whole unit cut down each wire to length and soldered them all back on. Now i have lost about 2cm worth of length on the wire but they already reach beyond the floors case so no probs there.

Now i have no problems both front USB ports are working lovely
