What cooler are you using on a Gigabyte S3, DS3, DS3P etc...

Could people post what coolers they are using on their Gigabyte P965 mobo, possibly post some pics, please

Reason I ask is that I'm looking to get a Thermalright Ultra 120 and given it's sheer size it looks like it might be a right royal bitch to fit. I want to mount the cooler so that it blows air to the rear exhaust of the case but I've got a feeling the cooler might foul on the NB cooler.

Any help/thoughts would be welcome.

noctua nh12 with lian li v1000 on a DS4. fits lovely, and the nh12 would even take the 2nd fan without any space issues.

Which way do have the fan pointing? Towards the rear of the case? Could you do some pics especially of the area near the NB and RAM which looks like the problem area for me according to my measurements, I want to see what sort of clearance there is in these areas.

I'v fitted to my Gigabyte DS3 R3.3 my old Thermalright XP-90. I purchased the adaptor for about £7 and it fits a treat.

The clips are very firm you need to install with the M Board on a strong flat table or you would probably bend the board too much. I also have a 60 mm fan directed to the NB heatsink other wise it runs hot (It fits nicely between the XP-90 and the NB with some strong tape to secure it!!

Works great with a quiet fan, and its not too heavy.

will be able to do pics next week, but until then can say one bank of memory is a squeeze but fits OK, and clears northbridge passive cooling no problem.

So going:

120mm fan ---> noctua ---> 120mm fan ---> out

and with the noctua you can stick another fan on the back to make

120mm fan ---> noctua ---> 120mm fan ---> 120mm fan ---> out

but I thought that was overkill !

With the DS4 the heatsink fan also cools the "silentpipe" passive northbridge cooler

I second that, although ive heard alot of happiness from DS3 owners using Scythe Ninja's on them.

The arctic cooler fan is WAAAY too loud though, but the scythe fan is so weak.
so will probably be getting a noctua or sharkoon soon.

Am only running a mild overclock (E6400) at 2800 / 1.3625v

It runs at 32 idle and have not gone above 45 on Orthos

Personally I cant fault it and it was a lot easier than my old Arctic 64 Pro to fit.

Yeh my case is silent apart from the gfx card fan, which is only slightly loud..
