    nForce onboard Audio under Vista

Just decided to make the switch to Vista Ultimate. Using DFI Lanparty NF4 SLI-D.

So finished install, installed the latest chipset drivers from nVidia. Everything appeared to running OK. Device Manager reported no problems with audio, however there was not sound output. Windows then came up with a window saying nForce Audio not compatible.

So I decided to uninstall the driver from within device manager, and install Realtek Audio Drivers, which I know are Vista compatible.

So first problem, I've installed the Realtek Audio, how to get the nForce Audio to use them persay? Everytime I log on I am prompted to install a driver for my nForce Audio Device.

Second problem. With this not working I thought it'd be safer to just go back to where I started, so I reinstalled the chipset drivers. However the Audio driver didnt seem to latch on this time

What can I do to get sound back?

Isnt it a jumper on the board to change to the realtek audio?

Huh...hadn't thought of that. I thought Realtek was just a driver for the Karajan Audio Module? If I had disabled it on the board surely Vista wouldnt think anything was there?

Either way I'll check it out. Forgetting I'd turned it off seems like something I would do...

If I remember right, you can take the karajan audio module out and still use the realtek.

That wasn't what I was thinking, the karajan audio module is the only onboard option for this board, there are no toher outputs. I had look in the manual and on the board, can't see any jumpers which would turn off the module. But as I said, its being detected by Windows, I just need find a way to get the realtek drivers to interact with it.

I don't know to be honest, I've never really known what they were for. I thought that was digital out. All I do is have one cable connected to the centre channel which branches to left and right channels which is connected to my Amp.
