T3-P5G965 - Need GPU Advice for SFF

I am going to be grabbing this ASUS barebones but I can't tell what will fit in it. I am looking at getting an X1950 XT. The card takes 2 slots and probably runs pretty long. I am looking for the best bang for the buck and of course a cool runner. 200-250 tops.

What are you other SFF guys putting in your boxes?

i managed to squeeze an 8800GTX into my shuttle SN27P2...and it only raised the temps by a few degrees.

why not try an 8800GTS? At least have a look at the dimensions and measure your case.

    Hey TimTim,

Funny you mentioned that card because that is exactly what I ended up ordering. I haven't been on nvidia since the 4600? days a number of years ago then moved back to ATI when the 9700 Pro came out. From what I can tell the GTS is a sweet card. We'll see fitment tomorrow.

Ok, so if a double-width gfx card will not fit into the SD39P2 with a PCI card as well, are they any available (or soon to be available) DirectX10 gfx cards instead of the 8800 GTS please?

    Thanks

There are 8600s and 8500s here http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/ . I think they are single slot cards that'll fit in a SD39.

Well the 8800 didn't fit. I went with the 320 version cause the price was better. I was very disappointed that this barebones layout wouldn't fit a card like this. It's not that the card is too big it's that the board is inverted so there is no available slot below the graphics slot to accommodate it's 2 slot stature. I went with the 7950 and am pleased with the performance.

In case it helps anyone else, I've just fitted a BFG 8800GTS OC2 in a SD39P2. It's a snug fit, but it's not over-tight and air-flow is good.
