thanks, gettin close to gettin most of the parts now. Mobo is in the bag, didnt order cos I got confused between the 2 diff models, wanted to make 100% sure. Ordering case Tues, then Wc stuff week after. Lookin forward to posting some pics up whilst Im building, cos I learnt it all from u guys(95% Clunk), so u can see ur handy work in progress, on my budget ofcourse

Clunk, I noticed u dont WC ur chipset block, was just wondering if it was needed if I wanted to get to 400fsb(as mentioned on ur OC guide). Reason being> I was thinking of just WC my cpu and 88Gtx for now until I get the hang of things, but if its needed I will do it anyway. I cud always go with something like a evercool chipset cooler aswell, and forget totally about WC the chipset. I dont know

I cud also go for the Thermalright HR-05(or SLI version) Northbridge Heatsink
that u mentioned in another thread, just dont know if that cools enuf for 400fsb?

this is a good small footprint (but tallish) chipset cooler Swiftech MCX159 Northbridge Cooler have seen a lot of wc pps using it. I have 1 i'm going to put on my sb(probably overkill but so what) when i get round to wc my gfx.

ok cool, but do u reckon that WC the chipset, nb and sb is necessary when OC? Im not sure what parts get really hot when OC? Im just gonna go for 3.6gz max like urs at the moment so no xtreme OC. It will just save me unecessary waste of pipes and more mess in my case I might not need.

Its not necessary, but it does help, especially when you have increased the NB voltage.

To answer your question about me not watercooling the SB, its simply because it didnt need it. The only reason I have the Thermalright heatsink on there is because I bought it for the NB and then decided to watercool, and it was a shame to waste it.

The 680i boards SB gets insanely hot and would probably benefit from a waterblock.

Ive pre-ordered a P5B AP so Im talkin bout that board in particular. Im still kinda confused. My predicament is I want to start off with a minimal watercooling setup but still keep it at optimal temps (at 3.6gz), watercooling it or not is the question. Is it poss to point out the NB, SB and chipset on this pic pls. Once I know I wont forget. really sorry dood

I have the Dangerden chipset block, works great. Might be a bit much if its your first build, it can be quite fiddly if you dont know what you are doing.

NB next to the cpu and SB next to the sata ports.

If you change the cooler for the NB, youll need something to cool the mosfets, and a set of ramsinks will do the trick, zalman ones are cheap, but work fine.

Yeah there's just a NB and SB. The heatsink above the cpu (due to the rotation of the pic) is used to cool the mosfets (or vrms or pwms, whatever you want to call them).

And the NB is the one really that u want to watercool as it will probably get hot if ur OC? SB deals with the Sata etc so that will probably do fine with a cheapish cooler like the Swiftech MCX159 Northbridge Cooler or Thermalright HR-05.

Been looking ages for this stuff, And I know some1 is gonna say but why spend so much money when u can get the same thing for £90. Well its got great timings (CAS 4-4-4-10) and Im not going to OC it(where looser timings work better I think), so it shud be pretty good for gaming which is my main concern. And dont nobody go telling all there buddies to go check it out, I can only order some on monday give it a week first
