Sapphire X1950 GT Worth Getting?

I need a short term graphics card (for 6-9 months) because I'm not convinced buying a top spec DirectX 10 card will be worthwhile yet.

Wanted some opinion on the Sapphire X1950 GT which I have heard is a solid option and can be picked up for under £100.

Personally I'd get the 1950 Pro as it's only a tenner more:

The only other card worth considering for around this price is the 7900GS.... not as good as the ATIs at stock speed, but apparently can overclock a fair bit.

At the moment the Pro is better bang for buck, but if the price of the GT comes down some more then yeah - it's a good dx9 performer.

Get a second hand or new X1900GT as this is slightly faster than a X1950GT! It will also be cheaper too. This will be true for the slightly faster revision 1 X1900GT - I would get the revision 2 version(I have this) as even though this is a tad slower it boasts HDCP and this will make your card more sellable in the future. The X1900GT series are built using an older process and hence do consume more power and produce more heat than an X1950 series card!!

X1950Pro would be a better buy really.. and if you could source out an X1950XT, thats an even better deal..

X1900GT is a tad too hot since its based on the R580 chip..

On the contrary, there are a few places I saw thats having the X1800XT 512MB going for under £100.. that will probably be faster than either the 1950GT/1900GT/1950Pro.. though the X1950XT still wins hands down..

I run an X1900GT in a Shuttle SD37P2 and heat is not so much of a problem.

I think getting a card with HDCP is better as it will be easier to sell in the future than a non-HDCP card. Hence the revision 2 X1900GT and X1950 pro are good choices.

Not a chance TBH..

X1950XT has 4 more pp, with 12 more shaders..

On top of that, it runs clocks closer to the 1950XTX.. and can in most cases (depending on the milage of the 1.1ns GDDR3), hit speeds of the XTX..

512MB for the 1950Pro is really like giving a Skyline GTS a bigger muffler, while the 2.6L NA engine wouldnt really benefit much from it... The 1950XT would probably represent a GTR VspecII, while slightly less tuned up than the GTR Nismo-LE, can be easily pumped up to those HP since both essentially uses almost identical stuff other than the bigger turbo.. (and in terms of the cards, GDDR3 versus GDDR4). The smaller turbo can in most cases hit similar turbo boost as well..
