Angry Re: VCool PSU from Maplin

thats what it did. It killed my new dream machine.
I should have known better, i should have spent more,

but budget was what it was, and there we are.

Had this model tested at my local shop, and it was wrong all over, fluctuating like an oscilliscope.
On my way to maplins now to return the blighter. and pick up my dead and useless PC from the local shop guy....red faced and poor

Yep, I have to agree the Corsairs are a very safe bet, and the Corsair HX520 is around £60, too. They're great value at that price. Unfortunately, looks like Maplins don't stock them
Check GamesTracker for game prices. It's always my first stop.

REALLY DON'T EVER BUY THESE. I bought one on the off chance about 2 months ago (for a cheap friend's system I was building), and had to take it back. Absolute rubbish. Sent the mobo into a weird reset loop sometimes, and at best the system was about as stable a drunken scotsman.

Tried it with a different psu about a week later, and all was fine. Like I said: absolute rubbish.

oh dear....im now BARRED from maplins....tried to return this PC killer to told a lot of tosh by the manager. Alas, he didnt realise, i know my rights, as much as iknow theirs, now they will require that the unit be sent back for testing usually, once allthatsdone everythingusually gets sorted. Alas the guy i dealt with decided to ignore the fact "its not working" . and concentrated solely on the flavour text of "pc reboots, kills mobo" , which are nowt to do with him or his company anyway. As it is...as always when forced to argue with idiots....i lost it and walked. Ill sort out a full complaint by monday, and never spend a penny with the blighters again.

Oh, and on a techie note....the PC's it was used in constantly rebooted, were unstable, and 90 % of the time wouldnt boot.

The damage to each mobo it killed was irreversible. once youve plugged on of these into a system, youve killed it.

And if you end up barred for trying to return it,let us know lol.
BTW...he barredme *before* i lost the rag, because i had him trapped with logic.
once i was barred, i thought, **** it, and really let him know how i felt.
its all on camera, so he should be shaking.

Maplin is ok for the odd bit of fiddly like RJ-45's, LED's and so on, but buying any complex electronics like a PSU that's connected to other big expensive items is a big no no.
