    PC for a friend

I've managed to tempt a friend to build his own PC (mainly for gaming), but i need some advice on the specs for it.

So far i have chosen these bits for him, and i want to know what you guys think about it, and what, if anything should be changed.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750, S775, 2.66 GHz, 1333MHz FSB, Conroe Core, 4MB Cache, Retail

    Not sure on Motherboard yet...

    2Gb (2X1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2, DDR2 PC5400 (667), 240 Pin, Non-ECC Unbuffered, CAS 4-4-4-12

    320MB EVGA 8800GTS, PCI-E (x16), Mem 1600MHz, GPU 500MHz, 96 Streams, 2x Dual Link DVI-I/HDTV

    Asus DRW-1814BLT, DVD±R x18, DVD+RW x8/-RW x6, DVD-RAM x14, Lightscribe, SATA, Black, OEM

520W Corsair HX Series Modular PSU, ATX, EPS12V, whisper quiet, 5 year warranty

    And an Antec 900

    + a windows XP/vista license

He has a budget of around £1000, but he needs nowhere near that amount, as those parts alone come to £560.

Could you please let me know what you think of these specs, and also reccomend a hard drive and a motherboard please, as i have no idea on whats good for either of them at the moment.

Also, he does not need a monitor.

    Thanks

    Nick

    Spec looks good.

I'd also agree on the IP35Pro (stay away from the IP35-E...used a couple recently and they are a fair bit different to the Pro)

    Get PC6400 (DDR800) RAM...

As for hard drives, the Seagate 7200.10 series and the Samsung Spinpoints are both nice value drives.

How about a Q6600 G0 stepping? However, its got a 1066mhz fsb, which I dont know if you have an issue with.

I said i was missing a hard drive...

No need for aftermarket cooler tbh, he's not bothered about it at all.

I might go Q6600 for him, i'll have a look tommorow though.

    Thanks

If you looking for a gaming machine, trust me go for Q6600. I've got Bioshock, Lost Planet, Just Cause, Far Cry, Medal of Honor Airborne, World in Conflict, Rainbow Six Vegas and Stranglehold which all run flawless with a similar setup as yours with the 8800gts, and most are on highest setting.
