    Anyone in the know ?

    Asus Commando motherboard !!
Expensive with flashing lights or genuinely good overclocking mobo ? Thinking of a new project with watercooling and wondered what the thoughts were on this option ?

From what I've heard both. After weighing up lots of options (and having BUFF nag me on several forums) I decided on the abit quadgt. As far as I can see it's one (if not THE) best clocking mobos.

Go for the commando or the quad gt, people will say get the quad gt because it is meant to be solid. I say go for the commando.

Out of the all the people that contributed to the huge commando thread, I dont think there are any that havent had to rma for one reason or another. Google for commando problems. Awful board.

Hmm, i know you're a P5B fan Clunk from previous things i've seen, the DS3 is rated too, is the DQ6 just an expensive version of that ?

Im having the same problem choosing a board. Commando just looks the part and I like the idea of no onboard sound etc, P5B seems to have alot of followers getting great results. But what I want is a solid board so I might stick with a P5B. But seeing what u said bout the quadgt u might have changed my mind

Just wait till BUFF sees this thread, he'll set you on the path to the quadgt.

I've not set mine up yet but it looks solid

72 & myself are the last of the commandos on this forum i think. we're both on our 2nd boards.

But having said that i've just nicely completed switch to water & in fairness the commando is giving me all i could really expect:-

Haven't quite blown the 4k mark yet
    CPU-Z

if going 965 like 72 says i'd go commando or the quad gt.
There is the new dfi but i've seen a lot of hype but it's 2 early to say if it's a decent board imo.

Is the Gigabyte DQ6 up to much ? I've been offered one unused for £80 and wondered if there are any horror stories ?

    Oh yep still flying

just modded case 2 drop memory temp which was a bit high as u can see.

added 2 fans 2 side panel, removing rear fan & dominator memory cooler.
memory temp down about 3.5C. So onward & upward.

Don't think it's overheating, still think it's just crap quality control from asus, it's a bit of a lottery if u get a good 1. Like all c2d builds heat is the restriction.

WC certainly is great, it's given me a whole new view on computing..........silince

    luck
