What memory should I go for?

I dont know what memroy to go for, if someone could give a bit of advise, I would be really greatful. limit is about 200 pounds maybe a bit more

What about:
2GB OCZ Gold XTC Series DDR2 @ 212.12 pounds (CCL Computers)

Or

2x 1GB OCZ Reaper HPC Edition @ 152.52 pounds (CCL Computers)

Or maybe something else?

It's quite cheap but I don't think I would go for the HPC edition ram..unless you are planning on clocking the nuts off it.

Is it to go with your system << or something else?

yes but, I will be upgrading the processor soon I am kinda hoping the the Extreme Quad-Core QX6700 or the X6800 will come down in price soon. So I want something what will run with my current setup and support the above processors.

There's no need to spend that much..

Are you planning on leaving them stock or overclocking?

How much? I only have my e6600 to go on but I would have to run that at 3.6GHz to get my ram to its rated 800Mhz (i use unlinked overclocking though)

you're probably best off with some fairly decent pc6400 imo.

ocz, corsair, geil..

Fast ram like that wont make your pc much faster, it will enlarge your e-penis though.

One question, why spend £250 on RAM when you have a Pentium 4 chip?

Spend £100ish on a C2D 6320 and another £150 on reasonable RAM

the Xxxxx series of processors are marketing gimmicks, sure they have an unlocked multiplier, but it doesn't make them worth the money Intel asks for them, a Q6600 would do the job just as well for half the price.

If you're moving to Core 2 you wont need fast RAM. I bought some OCZ PC-8500 stuff and regret it. PC6400 is plenty fast enough.

You can get 2x2GB(4 gig in 2 sticks) for under £200 now, that will give much more of a performance boost than 2gig of faster stuff, there virtually no difference in performance or ability to OC the CPU.

Clunk can tell you first hand he has some mental PC9200 stuff that will do 4-4-4-4 at silly mhz.
