Mosefet?

Noob question of the day:

What the heck is a Mosfet and where are they in a pc?
Was looking at some chipset coolers for my new rig and kept mentioning these things.

Oh right, so they basically one of those things on the motherboard that u cant change. was just wondering if I cud get better ones or cooler ones, obviously not then.

You can cool them by placing heatsinks on top of them - if that's what you meant by cooler,
