it seems that Microsoft has forced vista on all the manufacturers so that almost everywhere you go the only place you can buy a laptop with a Windows XP is on old models in unofficial channels...it'll be at least a year until all my work apps are vista supported.
I'm looking for a fast 17 inch with plenty of USB and XP...
Dell ws supposed to be reintroducing XP although I don't know if that extends to laptops

scan have it for just under a grand normally on today only. Or you could just install xp on a laptop that comes with vista.
dell still do it on some.. Go through small business and then on the lower models you can choose which os you want.
scan is nice, the <1k 17 inch range is a choice between two models.
I have Windows XP installation disk from my desktop but I think they will ask me for a reactivation because i can only use it on one computer to have access to updates?

Never mind about updates etc. You can only legaly use it on one system. full stop.
I think it's mad that wanting XP reduces the choice by about 10
IBM/Lenovo laptops mostly come with XP installed rather than Vista.
