You could use a compact flash to eide converter card and add a high speed 4gb compact flash card to put your os on (excepting Vista naturally hehe !!)?!!

I reckon that once they improve the performance of SSD drives (it's good but not all that at the moment), SSD or RAM Drive will take over the market currently occupied by Raptors.
By the time we get 100GB SSD (which is not that far off actually), we will see one, at the very most two generation of Raptors - say 300-500GB. But I reckon that in sheer performance, SSD has more room to 'grow' than conventional HD. And 100GB -is- enough for the OS/Apps for most desktop users (unless you never uninstall your games). For data, people will probably still stick with conventional HD.
I do however suspect that manufacturers will slowly Hybrid - although it may take some time.
I think there is a lot of scope for increased performance of SSDs. It is very likely that as desities increas you will get memory modules inside the drives acting in parallel, something like internal RAID-0. This isn't possible with mechanical drives.
