Which X1900 is knackered in my Crossfire setup?

Hi guys

Wondering if anyone knows how to determine which card in a Crossfire system is causing the problems.

Basically in games, one of the X1900 cards (either the Master card of the XT-X) is causing a 'chess board' like artifacting accross the screen. This only happens in Crossfire. I have tried a number of different drivers and even does the same in XP as it does in Vista.

Can anyone help me figure out which card it is?

the very first pixel 'block' on the top left corner should be the card in PCIe slot 1, so slot 2 should be the block next to it iirc.

Isn't it possible to test the card individually?

Sure, pull them out and test them individually in slot 1, if they both pan out, then the crossfire bridge could be damaged/faulty, or it could be drivers. *shrug*

Or could be card 1, but the compositing chip. Or maybe not, my crossfire knowledge is limited at best.

Have you change the cards to the different settings?

Try the following............

1. Alternate Frame Rendering: In this mode, the 1st card renders odd frames and the 2nd card renders even frames.

2. Scissoring Mode: this splits the screen in 2 horizontally, 1st card deals with the top and the 2nd the bottom.

3. Super Tile Mode: This devides each frame into a alternating checker board, 32x32 pixel tiles half the tiles to the 1sr card and half to the other (2nd)

Try the above if you still have the same problem it would seems to me that 1 of the cards is faulty, but, take both cards out and test both in port 1. Also, have you uninstalled the drivers and reinstalled them??
