if you got the money and space get the gamexstream, they have really high efficiencies, only downside its not modular tho. corsair hx620 would do you as well if you got the money for it.

and if you want a good budget psu then this one is good also, its modular too. 700w one is £64 i think but then again the hx520 from corsair is the same price including delivery so its really up to you.

Yup, corsair would have been my choice, but they weren't available when I bought (got a 500w S12 Seasonic in my rig at home)

620W is major overkill for what he has.

Cheers guys, got it sorted :thumb: in the end went with an antec neo he 550 as apparently it fits in well with the p180. Also features modular cables and a quoted '85% efficiency' rating. From the reviews I read nobody could seem to fault it either.

Even if he gets a GTX, 6 hard drives, 3 opt drives, 5 USB bus powered devices etc sometimes better over rating for future upgrades I thought.

As many others have already said - Corsair HX 520 or 620.

Either would be fine, although as Paul mentions the 620 would be better if you plan on substantially adding to your system later.

Yeah but if you think like that, 1.2KW isn't enough

    And then there's 1 basket, 24 eggs.

And utility companies chasing after you.

I have never been very green but like to think towards the future in terms of upgrades

but I suppose if I carry on like that the may be no future/wasting energy and that ///

Well if he gets a 620W PSU then he can never say that his PSU is holding him back

Anyway, it'll all be good when water generators become a household item

How is the Corsair 520w likely to deal with quadcore? is there much of a power draw difference?

    Acording to this: http://techgage.com/article/intel_core_2_quad_q6600/
105W, basically a P4 prescott, except there's 4 cores crammed in there, which is pretty good.
