any major performance above ddr2? fudzilla said that 2gb of ddr3 costs $600. i'll just be sticking with the ddr2 i guess. my ddr isnt that bad also 5.3 rating in vista which is quite nice

I would think so, but until retail boards and ram come out, its hard to say.

At the minute the engineering samples people have got hold of are cas6 (can't remember what speed) and not showing any improvement over equivalent DDR2 kits, but they were using a modded mobo, so with proper motherboards could, and really should, be faster. But probably not much to make it worth buying for a while

kinda i'd say, it says the ram prices will keep dropping. i say until you see the prices start rising then dont buy it. i think im not gonna upgrade to ddr2 either. the good quality ddr offers same performance in games and such. not a massive difference except for ram bandwidth.

I have seen RL Supplies selling 2Gb DDR2 667Mhz modules for £58.95 + VAT.

This is about half the price I have seen 2Gb modules being sold elsewhere.

Does anyone really think the price will drop lower than this? I can see the price of 512Mb and 1Gb modules dropping slightly but 2Gb modules which are not so common I would think would hold their price.

Well there is RAM and there is Quality, Branded RAM. I stick (no pun intended) with Corsair, high quality, known chip source and properly selected and matched, with a real lifetime warrenty. Others have their favoured Quality RAM and they are all valid opinions,

RAM is kinda important (as is PSU and MB) for stability and reliability, and I would not put this kind of budget RAM in any PC I build....

Agreed, also if they haven't got a heat spreader I avoid them aswell.

For a few quids more you can get something like Crucial, I know what I'd choose

Hmmm I have 2gig of corsair xms2 6400. Would it be wise to get another 2 gig while prices are cheap, or would it be overkill?

If you are going to be going over to vista x64 at any point in the near future I would say it was definitely worth it.
