I need a 600w PSU but am clueless

Ok, worked out that with my rig and taking into account I want the PSU to last... I need around 600w (the calculator thingy said 573 with 20% extra to comensate for capacitor aging).

I've had some sporadic problems with my pc, and having checked the power on pc wizard as advised, the +12v rail is drawing 15 - 16v! Not good. It was only a cheap ez cool infinity, I thought it would do the job.

Obv. not. So yea, help needed because I don't know anything about power supplies. Want it to be very reliable / energy efficient / not going to kill my c etc. that's the #1 priority. Then noise but most psus I've seen are quiet anyway. Then modular is a plus when you're living in an antec p180. Also if it fits in a p180 thatd be great, they have this funny cage thing. But if I have to come up with another solution (I'm sure people have elsewhere already) then that's ok.

Firstly, if its the spec ou have in your avatar, 600W is overkill (unless you really want one).

If you want a good, stable PSU, then the 520W Corsair would be your best bet as it is more than capable of running your rig with plenty of headroom for expansion.

The 620W Corsair is also a good option if you are adamant that the 600W+ is required.

The OCZ units are excellent i agree.
But for around that kind of price the Corsair is far far better value. You can get a 620W Corsair for that price and a 520W for around £65

I will have 5 hard drives soon so that's why I overestimated a bit.

Hard drives use sod all energy compaired to your CPU and GPU, I was running 4 hard drives off a 320W generic PSU (read really really crap) on my server until not so long ago. 520W is more than enough, unless you go quad 8800GTX or something insane.

Corsair 620w - £94.05 inc vat

OCZ GameXstream 600W/700W should be fine as should the FSP Epsilons that they are custoner versions of.
The Corsair 620W is also a fine PSU for a little bit more.

eta: also looking at investing in a UPS, only for my computer, we are on an electricity meter which runs out too frequently.

The antec one you have listed is very good, made in same factory as seasonic. 42A on 12V rails.

Which IS a Corsair aswell IIRC.

I suggest you look at Xclios on SCAN, I got the 700w GreatPower, it has an enormous fan so is pretty much silent, was an absolute bargain for the power. Have a gander
