Gonna build a new base unit for my mate. Just the base unit (including case and bits in it ) for £700. Just like some suggestions. Will be mainly for gaming and for storing his large collection of ... STUFF

Often times when I build comps I overlook something which would have been better suited, so your input is grately appreciated.

Oh it doesn't have to be Intel inside

£700 could get a very nice rig. The Athlon 64 Shuttles look very nice. Probably the fastest SFF system you can make at the moment for certain things.

Any preference on the form factor of the system?

only limitation with a SFF is the harddrive you put in it (ie 1 or 2 i think?) rather than 4 or more with a standard machine .. unless you start using usb/firewire external harddrives..

but SFF rigs do look pretty damned cool

Well I would like one that will last a while, so longetivity is a key issue. Form factor isn't important, I just need something that will give an excellent gaming performance for the next couple of years at least. Two hard drives would be good though, plus I was thinking of getting two CD drives (one RW one DVD) instead of a combo drive.
