new mobo and CPU - possibly RAM

    Hello all,

    looking for some hardware advice.

Basically, I have the system in my sig below.

I've been tempted for a while to take the plunge and go C2D, perhaps the 4300.

My PC has been acting up recently, random resets, "DISK BOOT FAILURE" error message at startup, etc....

thinking about punting my mobo and CPU on ebay and getting new ones. Also, I'm doing some election counting tomorrow night/friday and should make about £200 out of it.

Fist of all, would my RAM work ok with an Intel 4300 C2D and something like a P5B Wife Deluxe.

If not, someone mentioned Micro Direct were going a good deal on Geil DDR2 6400 RAM... here. Your thoughts?

If its the ram in your sig, no it wont work, you need a minimum of pc2-4300 DDR2.

CPU and mobo are fine, although I havent heard of the wife model

OK, I'll look at RAM too, the microdirect stuff seems pretty reasonable.

    was thinking of getting these:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=116481

    http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...uct_uid=116755

Both using the Google checkout to get a tenner off, and both have free shipping.

Just bought the E4300 from ebuyer with free shipping and tenner off on weekend.

Any comments? Wise move or any bad experiences?
