Just had a quick look, not sure if maybe this wud help? http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=578964
(Resurrect: no answer, so I thought I'd have a go.)
[s]It's almost certainly overkill - in price and functionality - but Creative's DTS-100 might do the trick.[/s] Oh, no, that's two INPUTS. Sorry.
Idea
However, I still have an idea. if you're trying to get 2 5.1 sources to be supported, simultaneously, why not buy 3 "splitters" for your 3.5mm outputs? All 3 sources would have to be "stereo" out, not tri-channel out - which rules out Creative cards unfortunately.
For purists, obviously this is not the BEST solution if you want "ultimate quality". (I have listened to DTS-HD/TrueHD sources played through Cyberlink PowerDVD, using both X-Fi (xTreme) and Intel Onboard (24/192) on Creative S750 speakers, and I don't "notice" deterioration. Then again, I don't know what to look(/listen) for.)
What do they look like?
(Source: Maplin > 3.5mm Stereo to 2 Mono Splitter)
Here's one example. It's not the "prettiest" I've seen, and 5 times more than I paid, but it illustrates what I'm saying, perfectly.
(At the time of writing, Maplin had this at £4.99. I paid £0.99 from an excellent "local" computer shop in Whyteleafe, Surrey, called "Look Computers". The version I got is more of a "dongle", i.e no wires protruding out.)
Tri adapters:
I appreciate that a large proportion of the market IS Creative, so this post's helpfulness is not really helpful to them, but it may still help some.
(You may be able to get tri-adapters - I've got a "headphones and mic" kit for my Vario3. Admittedly, this is 2 out + 1 in, but there may be adaptions. Have a look around.)
