Two 8600 low end (£80) in sli vs a 8800 320MB card

or

Two 8600 high end (£140) in sli vs an 8800 320MB card

1 8800 > * configurations of 8600... You're assuming the SLi will work for a start.

8800 320mb would be the better choice both times, sli is not worth the hassle. Plus vista drivers are bad, sli will be even worse.

Single 8800, Sli has too many caveats and terrible drivers right now.

I have a 8800GTS and it storms through everything I've thrown at it so far.

The overclocked cards dont have any superior cooling like u are vaguely implying. I would go for a stock one cos its cheaper, if any games are sluggish (which they probably wont be) then you can easily overclock it yourself.

1x8800 is better than 2x8600 in SLI.

Probably as good as quad sli with 8600s, if possible.
