When I eventually run 3 monitors (2 monitors and TV). I'm planning on using a 8800GTS and one of the cheap 8000series cards.

I think there might be driver issues with mixing the 8000 series with other cards. I haven't done it yet, but I personally wouldn't mix 8000 and anything else.

I tried it with my 8800gts, 158.xx drivers and a old pci card, xp found the pci card installed it and upon reboot, blue screen nv4 error(driver). Tried the 97.92/97.94, xp now fails to find a driver for the pci card, tried modding the inf file for the pci card, bt it just results in display running in 640x and low bit. As like you the 3rd monitor is to feed my lcd with my media centre, but no go at the momment

I would suggest getting a cheap 8500GT card, they are only about £60.

But do you need a another x16 PCIe slot or will a different PCIe slot work?

In theory a PCI-E x1 or x4 slot would work, but you'd have to trim the end of the slot so the card would physically fit in. There are a couple of PCI-E x1 card but you pay a premium.

I've successfully run a GF4 Ti4200 on AGP and a Radeon 7000 on PCI before. 2 different cards and 2 different drivers.

I am going to try a 6200 with my gts in my asus a8n sli d. It would probably just be as quick firing a media centre pc together, then again that would defeat the purpose of my recent clear out, CBA with multiple pc's............at the moment
