    Gigabyte ga 945pl s3 problem

Hi I have bought the above motherboard, with a core 2 duo 2.13GHZ CPU and 2*1GB Of corsair ram. I built it with a BFG 8800GTS GPU 80GB Hitachi deskstar HDD and pioneer DVDRW. Powered by tagan 480W PSU.

My problem is that i get nothing from the system but a high pitched noise. The fan on the GPU spins as does hdd and the light on that is on to indicate HDD active. The fan doesnt spin on the CPU. I used the stock fan (dont have sub). My question is should i have put more thermal paste than what was there? or try another fan or is the board dead.

It does the same stripped to mobo cpu psu and Fan.

    Thanks

Could be the board or maybe the PSU. I don't want to insult you but have you plugged both power connectors into the mobo?

You don't need more paste than is already on the stock cooler it just needs a minute to spread once the pc is on.

No dont worry your not insulting me. (made that school boy error before!). I have checked all connections to board and reseated them. The PSU is from another PC so i know its good. I dont have the hair anymore to tear out but this is testing me!

The PSU is a Tagan 480-U01. Any ideas would be great

Just make sure everything has been tested as much as you can test yourself and then I guess you need to RMA the board.

Is the RAM good? tried each stick in each slot?

The cpu fan not working is interesting. I wouldn't leave the pc on very long if it isn't as it will cook on just that stock heatsink.

You know mike. I've just realised a major blunder. I forgot to plug in the pwr to the GPU cable. Would this crazy mistake cause that. Maybe draw too much power? Although usually you just get a message telling you system cant run on full.
yeah i stripped to mobo psu and cpu and tried ram in each slot

I don't know what that would do..if the gpu doesn't recieve enough power it normally just leaves a weird mess on the screen.
