    Upgrade for less than £160
Slight risk as it is open box stock. But I have never had any problems with any of their open box parts.

brentonill that is a great price. I reckon if you used google checkout at Ebuyer you could shave a bit more off.
Just shows that you dont have to spend a fortune to have a half decent rig.
I did not factor in a psu and case as she has my cast offs a 420w Tagan and a Soprano case.

    edit
If you use google checkout at Aria you can have an E6600 for £125 if you wanted to beef it up a bit.

wow e4300 has dropped price quite nicely.
And i wouldnt trust a cheapo 550w psu tbh youd be better going for like a 400w good brand or something like that.

    Yeah not to bad huh.

Yeah you guys are totally right about the psu. Just used it because I was trying to see what the cheapest core two with an 8000 series card was that I could build (thinking for my mum and dad or gf or somthin!). Although probs worth spending a few quid more on a psu so I don't get a slap when it die's! Feel abit stupid that I have just spent almost £700 ordering bits for my rig when I could have just done something like this instead!!! Grrrrrr

I know its not DX 10. But for bang for your buck, would the 7600GT be a better card? looking at the clocks?

Also, how does this am2 compare to the 4300? in terms of initial performance..
