PSU has NO 4-Pin or 6-Pin adapters!

Hi there.

You can probably guess what my problem is from the title. Just bought a new PC and a new GFX card with it, and the card needs some power and has a 6-pin connector for the job. However, the PSU only has these connectors:

I'm guessing I need an adapter to turn whatever that is into either a female 6-pin or 4-pin connection? (The card came with a 4-pin to 6-pin adapter so either will do)

So does anybody know of any? Or can anybody at least give me the correct names for everything so I can Google it?

Your PSU *only* has SATA power connectors? :O_o1:

That's highly unusual. I'd be concerned that it would have enough juice to power the graphics card. Anyway, you can get SATA to Molex (straight 4-pin connectors) converters.

That pic is a SATA power connector.... If you have no 6 pin connector for your graphics card (known as PCI-E Power connector) then you may need to buy a 'proper' PSU.

First check it has not been tucked away somewhere.

Be careful you don't overload your PSU. My advice would be to buy a new high quality PSU that has all these connectors, high-end graphics cards especially have certain current requirements.

thats inside a dell dimension. there is a place that does the power supllies to fit them but they aint cheap.

That would be more ideal than a load of SATA connector bodging.

Thanks for that link amdavies, interesting product but it still requires a 4-pin Molex output from the PSU so I'd be back at square one. Am I right in assuming that it allows 2 PCI-e cards to run through one PCI-e port?

Note where it says "PCI-Express Y-Cable". Can anyone clarify that? Very interested in this product if so.

i have a good invention it will make me milllions it will save pages i have visited ill call it bookmark "checks" oh it exists :P.

For anyone in the future who might stumble onto this thread with the same problem, the adapter I ordered (see posts above) works absolutely fine. Fast despatch too.
