never had experience with them myself but i remember a post a few months ago which said they are nowhere near as quiet as they say they are. Checkout sharkoon golfballs
yate loon or nexus
both the same really but are the best
There's a lot of posts in forums about silentx being optimistic if not downright false in their claims.
this review offers an alternative view One reason that the IXP-54-09 is so quiet is that it barely moves any air. :surprised:
i'm with yate's (not the wine lodge:D)
interesting. test reviews are generally positive, but user comments in forums such as this one are a bit more varied. many of them state silenx are a bit crap.
so is the general view that yate loons are the dog's? if so, where in the UK can i get my hands on some good ones and which are the models to go for?
check out www.silentpcreview.com probably the best forums for silent-related pc stuff tbh.
I just ordered 3 of the high volume ones from here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/silencio-777 - got excellent service,
Yate Loon D12SH-12 - 120er Lüfter - 2200 RPM from silencio_777 others in his shop. (curtesy of Supershanks)
Well i've never tried them cos of what i've read. I'm also pretty unique now in that i'd prefer having a decent quality higgh rev fan that i can just turn down if i want quiet. Bur a lot of people have been stung.
@EtheAv8r have you tried them yet??
I had three 80mm ones they were fine, tbh if your worrying about 5 db you need to leave the house more
well don't forget to share the sweets with the kids, wife always has mine:DQuote:
Hi SuperShanks.... not tried yet .... they have been delivered OK.
luck:D
@2200 they'd be noisier but then you don't need to have them up that high, mine run idle @30% = 660 & are virtually silentQuote:
as I don't believe the 220rpm ones would be that quiet...
I had a couple of the 14dba 120mm ones. No where near 14dba but undervolted I suppose they weren't that bad except I passed them on...
I paid £20 for each fan :(, for the same money there are much better alternatives.
... hey my youngest daughter now has a Commando rig to replace the AMD 3500+ system I built her at Chrstmas.... if that ain't sharing I don't know what is! :-)
BTW - help and support with the abit QuadGT is Soooooo good - No more ASUS for me! (the Commando and the M2V both bought in January were my first, and last ASUS boards). Sure you get problems with abit (which I have used for the past 4 years on other systems), so problem wise they may be similar, but you also get rapid help from abit, like SCAN they seem to care.
@amjedmyou ain't kiddingQuote:

@EtheAv8r:D so does that mean u had them yourself:mrgreen:Quote:

yes think we've shared same opinion on asus for a good while. will only buy asus again if the board has some features that make it head & shoulders(+trunk:D) ahead of the opposition.:D
How's it clocking??
take care:D
are yate loon fans essentially the same as nexus fans, just under a different name?
also, i am thinking of maybe getting this one, as nexus/yate loon seems difficult to get hold of...

if you follow EtheAv8r's link you'll find many good fans from an excellent reliable e-store
luck:)
The Nexus 120mm (1000rpm) is a rebranded Yate Loon D12SL (1350rpm). The only difference is in the speed.
As advised by Supershanks in the post below yours, get Yate Loon or other fans from Silencio.
I've used him a couple of times and excellent service. Many other guys here have used and same level of service.
The fan I'd like to try out is the following one but I already have 5 spare fans :(
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Revoltec-AirGu...QQcmdZViewItem
Ive got a Silent Sharkoon 120mm in the front after reading good things in CustomPC.
It is actually very quiet.
i got Revoltec AirGuard 80mm Lüfter leise günstig by mistake from silencio_777 with my 1st order had ordered a 60mm which he shipped a couple of days later. I tried the 80mm in the psu panel of my case,http://homepages.nildram.co.uk/~chsm...ling%20074.jpg
It's still there, the 1st 80mm fan i've used 4 years very quiet & effective, next time i order from silencio will get a twin 4 it:)
I for one will never use SilenX products. A few years back, they used several fictitious user-IDs over at spcr (Silent PC Review) to rave about how good SilenX products were.
When spcr rumbled that they were deliberately trying to mislead people they got all sheepish and apologetic, however do you really want to support a company that resorts to such low-life tactics?
I've personally found Scythe fans to be excellent - quieter than Sharkoon. Sadly I've never tried Y-L, Nexus or a modern Panaflo.
Yes but which one? I have the both the Sharkoon 120 1000rpm and it is very quiet, but does not shift anywhere near as much air as the Sharkoon 120 2000rpm, which is noisier, but can be throttled down to slower and quieter for normal use, and wound up when additional cooling is required when in performance mode.
Still to try the Yate Loons, but I do have LOTS of spare fans now!
I got the Yate Loon D12SH-12 2200 RPM.
You are probably right....
They may be a bit quieter at high output.... they may not, I also got a bunch of Noctua 120 fans....... as my wife would tell you, I am a bit of a spendthrift - not!
The fans will all get used some-day - I have build 4 new systems this past 3 weeks....
Lol:D think your starting to rival silencio for stock of decent fans.Quote:

not being able to decide what to get, i did a typical "me" move and ordered the following:
http://www.aquatuning.de/product_inf...t-Stecker.html
http://www.aquatuning.de/product_inf...-S12-1200.html
http://www.aquatuning.de/product_inf...2-F-2-GLL.html
http://www.pc-cooling.de/FANS/SilenX...60mm+8dBa.html
overkill anyone?
lol
at least you will be able to do a good comparison
Be interesting to know how you compare each of them. could you leave a post after and let us know how it turns out? :)
:) will look forward to reviews.Quote:

Pity you didn't get 1 of the big loony's Yate Loon D12SH-1 2 2200 RPM, for comparison, as i said earlier at low speeds i reckon they can match anything.
luck:D
