recomend some memory & cpu for a quadgt

Looking to upgrade to an Abit quad gt and have always been with Abit & AmD since Win95.
But i have been told that this is the board to go with at the moment for o\c ing.
So as memory is dropping so much can someone help with which brand sticks to go for also which cpu is best bang fo buck at the moment?
    Thanks
    Robert

Personally I would probably go for an E6420 as imo the extra multi is worth £10.

any RAM with Micron D9 should be fine e.g. Crucial Ballistix or G.Skill 6400HZ

think you should be able to pick up some decent G-Skill or Patriot RAM on the cheap, compared to OCZ and Corsair

wait for the am k10's there so close now and should put amd on top again for the gaming market, if they don't they should atleast drive down the rest of the market.

quadGT is one the few boards that does'nt suffer with low FSB walls, so E4300(£75) and some Crucial Ballistix 2GB PC2-5300C3 (£75) are deffinitely best Bang4$.
    second alternative CPU - E6320 (£110)
    second alternative mem -

The memory will easy hit >1000mhz with slacker timing and +volts and for the 4300 3.2+.

okay budget wise £150 for a cpu & the same again for 2Gb memory.
So is a E6600 overkill (going to o\c) also what memory for the money that is left.

Given that a C2D will typically plateau ~3.6GHz on air & they both have the same cache I still think that the 6420 is better value but the E6600 is still a fine CPU.

& Ballistix still gets a recommend.

Thanks for the help on the cpu memory front.
so i will follow your advice an both the memory and cpu and will go for the 6420 cpu and ballistix memory but could you be a bit more specific on which memory to go for (Oh for the days of ddr when i knew about timings).
    Thanks

The 5300 C3 supposedly isn't binned as well as the 6400 C4 or 8000 C5 but it still seems to do very well for most people.
