e6600 or one of the newer core 2s?

Currently upgrading my rig, so far I have 2gb corsair xms 6400 ram, p5b deluxe. Keeping my existing sound card, hdd's and optical drives.

Graphics will be a 8800gts card(don't know which one yet) and will be going for the arctic cooler pro as heard this is the best air cooler avail..

When it comes to CPU choice, I need advice. Was looking at a e6600 but seen new revisions of some other chips(6420 for example).

Question is, is the 6600 still the best one to go for or are any of the newer ones better. Price diff only about £20odd so can go for any of them.

Will be doing some ocing as well.

e6420 or e6320 would be a good choice. All seem to oc well.

With 800MHz ram you will only get to 2.8GHz before overclocking the ram on a 6320. Get a 6420 as the 8x multi will get u to 3.2 before overclocking the ram and the lower fsb will be more stable. 6600 is better still though.

Everytime I mention getting the E6600 I keep being tols to save £20 and go for the 6320...thoughts???!!

£20 is definitely worth it for the E6600. Stable speed guaranteed.

Go for the E6600 you wont be disappointed. Well worth the extra £20.

My vote would also go to getting a 6600. And the £20 is nothing compared what it used to be before these price cuts :p

Yeah e6600 - if your not going to do any form of overclocking - otherwise clock a lesser speed chip :)
