Recommend A New PSU For Ancient A7A266 + Athlon
Hi everyone
My PSU has died - I switched my PC on today and a very large green flash shot out the back of the power supply... followed by a nasty smell(!) :surprised:
It's ancient (Athlon 1.4) with an Asus A7A266 mobo, has a couple of HDs and a GeForce 3. I have had it since WinXP came out and it has always run very hot, so I'm tempted to replace the CPU cooler too (assuming the proc survived the fireworks!)
So, any suggestions for a cheapish PSU and a cooler/paste to fit an antique (non-XP) Athlon?
I know it's not really worth the bother and I should probably bin the whole thing but it still does the job for basic mail/browsing. That said having seen how quick (and cheap) my brother's birthday PC is I'm tempted to get rid :rolleyes:
Anyway thanks for reading, given the Google Checkout I'm looking to probably buy from ebuyer unless anyone has any better suggestions?

PS Re my brother's comp I am getting fully loaded temps in the 50s/occasional low 60s at 3GHz on an E4300, sound OK? Unloaded low/mid 30s.
