Probably a silly (and hypothetical) question.
How would two 8800GTS in SLi complare with a single 8800GTX.

More hassle, more incompatibilities but potentially faster in some games.
In games that are optimized for Sli..yes probably..otherwise no.
Single GTX better and cost effective, SLI regarding 8800's is pointless in my view considering what performance you will get from a GTX - 2 x GTS.
GTX every day of the week.
Performance wise i doubt there would be much in it but with 1 GTX there is plenty of upgrade potential.
Theoretically a pair of GTS's can beat a GTX, but in the real world it never happens for loads of reasons; bad SLi support in games, driver problems(oh god are there driver problems) and so on and so forth.
Sli isn't a realistic option except for when you're just throwing money at a PC and want two of the best cards. Get the GTX it will storm through everything you can throw at it.
for the price of 2 640 8800GTS you wouldnt be far off an ultra which would steam anything (and the inside of your case )
ultra runs cooler than the GTX doesn't it? :s
depends how much you overclock it...
I think thats what they say...

In truth its the about the same
my 2p: single card solution wins every time at the moment unless you happen to have an unlimited budget in which case it'd be SLI/CF but only with top-of-the-range cards. From what I've seen in reviews the real-world performance increases don't scale well with the cost before you even take setup and driver problems into account. If you've got the budget and/or enjoy tinkering with your pc hardware and software a lot then by all means go for dual gpu :)
Not something I'm gonna do...just interested in whether it would be worth doing...!
That said, when the prices come down, for those of us with 8800GTS's, might be a route worth taking?
most of the time it's better to flog the current card and upgrade rather than get another of the same.
