    Heatsink Trouble

Me and my brother are building a new pc, but I'm having trouble mounting the heatsink.

It's a Scythe Ninja, and the plastic clips are just rubbish.

Does anyone know what shop I can buy this out of?

It probably won't come till Saturday if I order it and I cba waiting that long

I looked on the maplin website, but can't find it. Any help?

    Re: Heatsink Trouble

Is it the revision B you've got with the similar mounting system to the socket 478 P4 heatsinks?

If so, make sure you follow the instructions on how to use the clips properly. I stupidly didn't follow them and got a bit stuck. All good now though with ~30oC idle

    Re: Heatsink Trouble

When I push one clip in, the other side pops up and I can't even reach 2 of the clips because of the case.

    Re: Heatsink Trouble

    I had a similar problem.

Push down two 'corners' at a time (opposite corners), or maybe get your brother to push two corners in while you push the other two in with equal pressure. Also make sure they're rotated correctly, if they're not then it won't go in properly.

Refer to the manual thingy for which way the rotatable things should go.

Mount the heatsink outside the case. I still don't see why so many people try and mount their heatsink in the case

    Re: Heatsink Trouble

My brother has it at his flat right now lol

I asked if hes tried mounting it outside yet, he'll e-mail back soon.

    Cheers.

Edit: He can't mount it outside, he has to install the motherboard then the heatsink. He explained it to me well, I just can't explain it

Also, I wouldn't be happy with only those plastic push pins holding it in place.

I really need Bolt through kit which converts Ultra-90...using 775 motherboards. Can't find any that are in stock...ahh.
