Reseting Motherboard
Hi all,
I have a hp pavilion ze4610US notebook. Now there is a bios password on it and I can not get in. I took me a while but I found the battery on the motherboard. Now I took that out and let the laptop sit for 24 hrs thinking that it was enough time to let the capacitors drain. I put the laptop back together and the bios password is still comming up. Should I leave it unplugged for longer? How long?
Thanks
~AJ

Why don't you know the password?

There's normally a jumper on desktop boards, not sure about laptops though. You could strip it right down and look but may not even be there :/
I guess leaving it unplugged for as long as you've got might work, unless it's stored in persistant memory...
A service manual would be you best help (if you can find one!)

What about Flashing the BIOS?

Unplug the notebook from the power source and remove main battery. Press the power button a couple of times to drain the capacitors. Remove the mobo battery and leave for at least 24hrs, maybe longer and then fire it up.
Ideally you need a cmos clear jumper, but i dont think you'll have the option on that mobo.
