Saw these new cases on scan, they dont look too bad. Wondered what you guys thought.

If you're using a front to back cooler (like most now), it will just cause turbulence, but combined with the right CPU cooler it could work quite well. I have a 25cm fan in the side of my case and it blows just in front of the CPU cooler intake which works very well. but I reckon if it were blowing directly over it, it wouldn't help temps at all.
think you have to look at them on a case by case basis
have seen some cases where the fan spec is that low it can barely cause a draft & so is a gimmick.
Xclio, although known for budget cases often have some decent good designs. It may work well, as chuckskull says.
i'd google round to see if u can find a few honest reviews
luck
No reviews around yet unfortunately, the ones with 25cm fans generally got fairly good reviews. Id just like to see how these 36cm fans perform.
Only if the PSU's fan can be switched to intake instead of exhaust.
Pushing air in over such a large area will mess up most if not all cpu air coolers, especially those with high density fins.

SystemCooling.com 1 in scan is a version 2 same name but larger side fan.
looks half decent if u follow the link to manf site from the review.
PSU fan can be genarally ignored in looking at system cooling in my experience.

If that thing just intakes air, then ooooh dear. I'd imagine the CPU, northbridge and mosfets will be quite cool, and perhaps the graphics card depending on the cooling deployed (Zalman VF900 should work well, any of the latest stock coolers very poorly), but there'll be some pretty extreme hot-spots in that case.
You've got to match intake to exhaust. In a worst case scenario you should have more exhausted than brought in. Positive pressure is only better than having no air flow at all.
It's the same with all these XClio cases I've seen. They seem to think big is best, but without any real thought as to what's actually happening inside the thing.
Might be worth checking that you can get a replacement fan, if/when you needed a replacement. 120mm fans are easy to get for example, but bigger specialist sized fans might be hard to find. If that particular size is for sale in Scan (or anywhere else) though, then it should be ok. And you could even order a spare when you buy the case, incase they get discontinued in the future or anything.
The only other thing that would concern me, would be what chuckskull said. If the fan blows viciously directly at the CPU, then it might cause more harm than good. But its impossible to tell really without checking the thing out. The fan may be on such a low RPM, that it may just be gently cooling the entire inside of the case. Or it may aim just next to the CPU like chuckskull said, which would actually provide nice cool air for the Heatsink&Fan to then push through.
Overall though, I like these kind of cases, because good cooling from a good fan, can not only keep your components cool, but they can be very quiet (or even silent) when they are that big.
With a fan like that wouldn't it be possible to run all other components fanless (inc psu)?
Very much doubt it. There are 2 distinct functions 4 fans:-With a fan like that wouldn't it be possible to run all other components fanless (inc psu)?
1) Peripheral Fans - Attachhed to the components they cool eg, CPU Fan, gfx etc., Their main function is to get heat off the component into the surrounding air.
2) Case Fans - Purpose is to circulaste air through the case. Intaking cool air & exhating hot air.
for a well cooled system both have their place.
In that case better to wait for this case

2 x 220mm fans
Should be able to run components fanless as it has vents in certain places.

Yeah you really need both. The case fans dont really cool stuff that much, because they are usually fairly slow. All they really do is stop the warm air from building up inside the case.
Also, PSU, CPU, and GPUs get so hot, they really need direct air cooling them. If they where cooler it would be fine. Infact, my last PC had no case fans and was ok. But nowdays, stuff can get so hot. Infact I read somewhere that the 8800GTX can get over 100C when under load... Not sure if thats true or not, but if it is... you could actually boil water on the graphics card :O
In my experience these big side fans don't help that much. I actually scraped my side fan and put a whole new window in, since then my temps have improved significantly. I believe the front fan does intake a good amount of air, although it has to go through holes in drive bays first. (case is a380)

I can't take those cases seriously.. I'd just chuckle every time I saw it
